Design templates

Save reusable field settings and choose when template updates apply.

Open Settings › Templates › Design to manage design templates. A template brings together field type, equipment, racking, layout settings, and modeling assumptions.

Create

  1. Click Template.
  2. Name the template and work through its field, equipment, and racking choices.
  3. Select an energy modeling template or review the modeling assumptions.
  4. Review the summary and save the template.

Choose equipment from your organization’s library. Use names that identify the intended surface, equipment, or project type.

Edit, duplicate, and delete

Use a template’s row actions to edit, duplicate, or delete it. Duplicate a template when you need a separate starting point.

Deleting a design template leaves existing fields with their current values and removes the template link. Review the confirmation before deleting.

Apply to a field

Select a field and choose a template in Field › Template. Review the resulting equipment, racking, spacing, and modeling settings. A template does not move the field boundary.

The field type and template must be compatible. Read any refusal message rather than assuming an unsuccessful application changed the field.

Keep a field in sync

Editing a template does not silently push its new values into existing fields. Editing a field also keeps its template link.

When the field differs from the linked template, the sync control shows Update N settings. Click it to apply the template’s current values. Review the changed rows and the update message; Undo reverses the application.

To keep the values and remove the link, choose Detach template in the template picker. Reapplying a template can replace field-specific changes, including modeling overrides.
