Inverter groups

Share inverters across fields and review their string allocation.

An inverter group lets fields share a set of inverters. Groups replace v1 wiring zones and describe which strings connect to the inverters’ inputs.

Create or join a group

Select the fields and use Add to inverter group. Choose a new group or an existing one, then confirm. The field’s Module & electrical section also provides its inverter-group controls.

Select the group in the Fields lane to open its inspector. Review its fields, equipment, module count, strings, and sizing.

Auto and Manual

Auto updates allocation as the design changes. Review the selected inverter, the target inverter count or DC/AC ratio, and the string-length settings. Allocation respects the equipment’s available inputs and limits.

Use Manual when you need to specify allocation yourself. Editing the wiring can switch a group from Auto to Manual; the app reports that change. Check the mode before assuming later layout changes will update the wiring.

Returning to Auto can rebalance strings. Review the resulting allocation and use Undo if the change is not what you intended.

Check the allocation

Review the number of inverters, strings per input, modules per string, and each field’s contribution.

MPPT inputs on conventional inverters and inputs on optimizer-based systems are shown according to the equipment. Use the valid ranges displayed for the selected module and inverter.

Check the difference between:

  • Unstrung modules, which are not part of a complete string.
  • Unlanded strings, which have not been assigned to an inverter input.

The group provides removal actions where applicable. Before modeling, the app may ask you to review modules that would be removed or restored. Read that prompt before accepting a layout change.

Correct a problem

A group may need attention if its fields or equipment changed, its string length is outside the supported range, or its allocation exceeds the available modules or inverter inputs.

Open the affected group, check its warnings, and correct the highlighted settings. Do not treat unallocated modules as producing energy. Model the design again after changes.

Physical stringing

Inverter allocation and physical wiring are related but have separate controls. Use Stringing and Engineering mode to review strings, routes, conductors, and equipment placement. See Wiring.
