Projects and designs
Organize work in portfolios, manage project details, and create or preserve design versions.
A project holds designs for a site. Use separate designs to compare layouts or preserve versions. A portfolio groups related projects.
Find your work
Open Projects in the left navigation. Unfiled shows projects outside a portfolio; All projects includes filed projects too. Open Portfolios to browse by portfolio.
Press Ctrl+K on Windows or ⌘K on Mac to search projects, portfolios, designs, and people. Select a result to open it. Search also provides recent items.
Create a project and design
- On Projects, click Project.
- Enter a Project name in New project, then click Create.
- In the project, click Design.
- Enter a Design name in New design, then click Create.
The design opens in the editor. See Your first design.
Project properties
The projects table groups work by status. Change Status, Priority, and Lead to keep the team informed. Open a project to see its properties and notes beside its designs.
Use the table’s search, sorting, filters, and selection controls to find or manage projects. The project menu provides actions such as rename, pin, move, and delete. Review the confirmation before deleting a project and its designs.
Portfolios
Open Portfolios and create a portfolio for a customer, region, or other group of projects. Give it a name and choose its appearance. Open the portfolio to manage its projects.
Use a project’s move action to put it in a portfolio. Pin frequently used projects or portfolios for quick access. A portfolio’s menu provides rename and delete actions; read the delete dialog to check whether its projects will also be deleted.
Design versions and locks
Open a project to see its designs. A design’s menu provides Rename, Duplicate as new version, Lock design, and Delete, subject to your access and the design’s state.
Lock a design when you want to preserve the version used for a proposal or handoff. A locked design is read-only. Duplicate it as a new version to keep designing; the duplicate can be edited.
Selecting a design also lets you read or edit its note. The design name can be edited in the editor when the design is editable.
Existing v1 designs have additional preservation controls. See Coming from v1.
Capacity tests
A project’s details include its capacity test. Start a test there, or from Download › Capacity test in a design. See Capacity tests.
