# Comments

Leave map comments, see teammates in the design, and follow their view.

A comment is a pin on the map with a thread under it. Pins stay anchored to their point as you pan, zoom, and orbit.

## Work together

Teammates in the same design appear in the collaborator bar, and their cursors appear on the map. Click a teammate's avatar to follow their view. Use the stop control beside **Following** to return to your own view.

Use comments to leave a location-specific question or decision for teammates who are not currently in the design.

## Place a comment

1. Click **Comment** in the toolbar (top center of the editor). The cursor becomes a crosshair.
2. Click the point on the map you want to talk about. A pin drops there and a **New comment** card opens beside it.
3. Type in **Add a comment**. Press `Enter` or click **Post comment** (the arrow button) to post. `⇧Enter` starts a new line.

Each arm places one pin. After the click, the tool puts itself away. Click **Comment** again for the next pin. A click on the sky or past the horizon places nothing and keeps the tool armed.

If you click the map with text in the card, the card collapses to its pin and keeps your text. Click the pin to open it again. `Esc` does the same. The X on the card (**Discard comment**) throws the draft away.

Clicking the map closes an open thread. Clicking the toolbar, the inspector, or the layers panel leaves it open.

## Reply and mention

Click a pin to open its thread. The **Reply** box is at the bottom. The same keys apply: `Enter` posts, `⇧Enter` adds a line, and `Esc` closes the thread.

To mention a teammate, type `@` or click **Mention someone** (the @ button under the box). A list of people in your organization opens and filters as you type, on first or last name. Pick a name with `Enter` or `Tab`. The list reads "No matches" when nobody fits. A mention shows as @ followed by the person's name.

A pin with comments you have not read yet is marked. Opening the thread marks it read. **Thread actions** (the ⋮ button in the thread header) has **Mark as unread** to put the mark back.

## React, edit, and delete

Hover a message to show its buttons.

- **Add reaction** opens a strip of nine emoji. Click one to react. Click it again, or click the reaction chip under the message, to take yours back. Hover a chip to see who reacted.
- **Edit comment** opens the text in place. Press `Enter` or click **Save comment**. **Cancel edit** or `Esc` backs out. An edited message shows "edited" next to its time.
- **Delete comment** removes the message.

Edit and delete appear on your own comments only. The first comment in a thread cannot be deleted on its own. To remove the whole conversation, open **Thread actions** (⋮) and choose **Delete thread**. Only the person who started the thread sees that item.

## Resolve and reopen

Click the check mark in the thread header (**Resolve thread**). The thread shows a "Resolved" banner, the reply box goes away, and the pin disappears from the map.

To see resolved threads, open the menu on the **Comment** tool (the chevron beside it, **Comment options**) and pick **Show resolved**. Resolved pins come back muted. Open one and click the check mark again (**Reopen thread**) to continue the conversation. **Hide resolved** hides them again.

## Move a pin

Drag a pin to a new point on the map. A drag is one undo step (`⌘Z` / `Ctrl+Z`).
